Solar-Powered Car To Be Displayed
MOUNTLAKE TERRACE

One of the fastest solar-powered cars in the world will bask in the spotlight at Mountlake Terrace High in the Edmonds District this week.

The Viking XX, which took fifth place last fall in the World Solar Challenge in Australia after placing second in the General Motors Sunrace in Orlando, Fla., last summer, will visit the school's Exploring Technology classes.

Michael Seal, a power-technology professor at Western Washington University, will give a talk on solar power. Seal is founder of the Vehicle Research Institute and has been involved in the design or development of 20 prototype vehicles in the areas of high mileage, crash protection, engine design and solar energy.
